Kevin Hatchard expects a thriller at Anfield.

When Kenny Dalglish led the Reds to an 18th league title in 1989-90, Liverpool were streets ahead as England's most successful club. The bar is set higher, the margin for error is miniscule.

The game pits two of the game's most dynamic and inspirational managers against each in City's Pep Guardiola and Liverpool's Jurgen Klopp. However, Klopp knows that counts for little.

The pair's fierce but amicable rivalry stretches back to 2013 when Guardiola was in charge at Bayern Munich and Klopp was at Borussia Dortmund.

Pep is still trying to work out how to play against Liverpool, a team who caused him all sorts of problems last season, beating them 4-3 at Anfield and dumping them out of the Champions League over two legs. The Guinean midfielder stayed overnight in a Naples hospital after suffering a back spasm.

"Liverpol should be upset, not me", said Guardiola.

"When you have a vision about the history of the Premier League and you start to compare it with them, to be closer with them, we should be so proud and we are".

Speaking at his pre-match news conference ahead of Sunday's game, Guardiola said: "Every game is completely different".

Ilkay Gundogan faces a fitness test on an injured hamstring, while Fabian Delph is still absent.

Though his side have already lost three times to Liverpool in 2018 - conceding seven goals in their two trips to Anfield - he has maintained City won't park the bus. With Liverpool trading at [2.6], there is scope to back the hosts using the Draw No Bet market at [1.9].

It would suggest Klopp will always have a better chance in a cup competition and Guardiola in a league format.

However, the Premier League fixture, which I was working at, was nip and tuck, and City...

"I don't see it that way. I don't know what's going to happen".

Liverpool's Sadio Mane seems to love playing against Manchester City. In the first Champions League game we made a good performance except at the end of the first half.

"Sergio has scored a lot of goals but there were periods when he didn't score goals".

"It's a massive game", the full-back told Liverpool's official website.
