The Bulgarian has unsurprisingly plumped for his old side, but he did concede that the Magpies will view this game as the flawless opportunity to face Jose Mourinho's team.

The pair's relationship has dominated headlines in recent weeks after they were caught having a war of words on the training ground.

The Ecuador global, who is into his 10th season at United, liked a post from a follower on social media which carried the caption: "I'm not even surprised about the outcome of this game".

Manchester United are one of the strong teams in Europe this season, according to Valencia boss Marcelino Garcia Toral.

"What I find disappointing is those players are happy for Mourinho to take the blame", Ince told Paddy Power.

With a Europa League trophy being the most significant honour Mourinho has claimed at Old Trafford, this season is certain to have a major influence on his future at the club.

Though Mourinho retains the backing of United's owners for now, there needs to be a drastic turnaround in results and performances to save his job after four matches without victory. "To do that we need points - points we lost in the last two matches", he said before Saturday's home game against Newcastle. Mourinho's man-management has come under scrutiny amid a reported rift with record signing Paul Pogba, while the club have been dismal on the pitch this season, collecting 10 points from seven league matches to sit 10th in the Premier League.

"Every player in the shirt should be putting in effort and showing desire, even if you don't get the result".

Matic's deeper role could hand a reprieve for Fred to play alongside Pogba but Mourinho is also minded that Juan Mata could afford to play there given United are expected to dominate possession.

They must travel to Mourinho's former club Chelsea on October 20 and rivals Manchester City on November 11, with home and away European matches against Juventus sandwiched inbetween. We only ask because it's all getting a bit tedious now.

"No offence to United fans". United are going through a tough time at the moment.
