NL Central champion Brewers to begin postseason play on October 4

Jon Lester is scheduled to take the mound for the Cubs while Kyle Freeland is expected to be the starter for the Rockies. First pitch is 3:15 p.m. on FS1.

The Brewers would return to Milwaukee from Chicago with the division title and home-field advantage for the first game of the NLDS Thursday, Oct. 4.

Even if Hamels were needed for a lengthy outing, he would be ready on normal rest by Game 3 of the division series if the Cubs advance.

The Rockies are coming off a tough 5-2 loss against the Dodgers in Los Angeles Monday, just as the Cubs are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Brewers.

The two teams were evenly matched this season, splitting their six games against each other and each scoring 33 runs. That included a loss at Wrigley Field on April 30 in which he allowed three runs over seven innings. It's a criss-cross kind of trip and it's one that the Rockies hoped they weren't going to have to make.

Walker Buehler was set to start for the Dodgers Monday, while German Marquez was slated to get the ball for the Rockies.
