Best men's Coach: Men's Coach award was won by World Cup victor Didier Deschamps, he was presented the award by compatriot and former Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger.

Real Madrid midfielder Modric won the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award after following up Champions League success by inspiring Croatia's run to the World Cup final, picking up the Golden Ball despite defeat to France in Moscow.

With no Cristiano in London, the bets are on Luka Modric having won the Champions League with Real Madrid and reached the World Cup final with Croatia, only to be beaten despite his spectacular performance.

Modric scored twice and also netted in penalty shootout wins over Denmark and Russian Federation, but it was his playmaking ability that caught the eye in winning the Golden Ball for the best player at the World Cup.

The impending absence of Ronaldo from Monday's gala has further fueled speculation that the 2018 ward is for Modric. Ronaldo also scored a memorable hat-trick in the FIFA World Cup but did not progress beyond the round of 16.

Now with Real Madrid, the 26-year-old Courtois joked before his award was announced that Federation Internationale de Football Association should also hand out a save-of-the-year prize.

Deschamps, who became just the third man to win the World Cup as a player and coach, beat off competition from Dalic and his former France team-mate Zinedine Zidane, who won a third consecutive Champions League title with Real Madrid before resigning in June.

However, he was left out of the attack in favour Lionel Messi, Eden Hazard, Kylian Mbappe and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Deschamps' victory was the second straight year a French coach has won the award.
