Cristiano Ronaldo return to Manchester United never on, says Jose Mourinho

The Mirror reports that Jose Mourinho told Manchester United not to make a move for Cristiano Ronaldo when the Portuguese superstar made a decision to leave Real Madrid.

United will face Ronaldo and Juventus in the Champions League group stages this season, first at Old Trafford on October 23 and then at the Allianz Stadium on November 7.

"They don't hide", he said admiringly, having previously gone public with his own disappointment at United's failure to land more than one of his transfer targets.

An early Mario Mandzukic goal and a second-half strike from Blaise Matuidi gave Juve their third win in as many league games this season, although Ronaldo was left without a goal in his first 270 minutes with the Turin side. I think after Liverpool it must be them.

After the match, Massimiliano Allegri suggested that it is perhaps more hard to find the back of the net as regularly in Italy than it is in Spain due to the strong and organised defences of the teams. "The global break will help him to become sharper".

After his summit with the North Korean leader in June, Mr Trump said the country was no longer a nuclear threat. However, some analysts suggested Trump's move may also be a negotiating ploy.

'Cristiano was never on my table to say yes or no to, ' said Mourinho.

United have already suffered defeats to Brighton and Tottenham at the beginning of this campaign, with both matches highlighting the side's defensive frailties.
