Acting President Osinbajo sacks DSS Boss Lawal Daura


Osinbajo has directed the termination of the appointment of the Director-General of State Security Service (SSS) Lawal Musa Daura who was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Seiyefa was the director, Institute of Security Studies, Abuja.

Local media reported that the men were operatives of the State security service headed by Security chief Lawal Musa Daura, who has now been fired.

Said: "The Nigeria Police Force wishes to categorically state that its personnel was not involved in any way whatsoever in the blockade of the National Assembly in the early hours of today, 7th August, 2018".

Before his new appointment, he was Daura's deputy, being the most senior director in the DSS.

He also attended the University of Jos, where he obtained a Bachelor of Law (Honours) Degree in 1982, and was called to bar after attending the Nigeria Law School, Victoria Island Lagos.

The presidency later said Matthew B. Seiyefa, the most senior director in the DSS, will act as director general until further notice.

He was received at the entrance of the Villa by the aide de camp to the acting president.

The presidency in a statement said the obstruction of lawmakers was without its consent.

Consequently, he assured Nigerians that all persons within the security agencies who participated in this travesty will be identified and subjected to appropriate disciplinary action.

National chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Adams Oshiomole, held a crucial meeting with some senators in the party on Tuesday.

Seiyefa was shortly after Daura's sack, spotted in the Presidential Villa, where he had a meeting with Osinbajo.
