The President and the First Lady will then spend the night at Winfield House, the US ambassador's residence in central London.
Asked whether the President's schedule was created to keep him away from possible protests, a Downing Street spokeswoman said: "Prime ministers frequently make use of Chequers for meetings with foreign leaders". It is one of the things that bind us together.
