Mr. Jordan, a Republican, has denied that.

Five former wrestlers now say that Jordan, then an assistant coach, knew about the abuse and didn't do anything. The position he took was staggering at best.

Jordan is the powerful Republican founder of the House Freedom Caucus and dark horse candidate for speaker.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), facing claims that he knew about alleged sexual abuse at Ohio State University three decades ago and failed to act, has scheduled an interview with lawyers investigating the case, his office said Thursday.

"He has not been contacted by investigators about the matter but will assist them in any way they ask, because if what is alleged is true, the victims deserve a full investigation and justice", said spokesman Ian Fury.

Doug Andres, a spokesman for Speaker Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, said: "These are serious allegations and issues".

Mr. Jordan is one of the most prominent conservatives in Congress. I believe Jim Jordan 100 percent. One man said he directly reported the abuse to Jordan; all four said Jordan could not have been unaware of the inappropriate behavior.

A partner with Porter Wright Morris & Arthur said the investigative team had in fact contacted Jordan about an interview by email and phone.

"Jim Jordan is a world-caliber athlete who is very aggressive in his actions. he's a bulldog, let's be honest", DiSabato said.

Chasing Kawhi Leonard, Lakers engage Spurs yet again
With Paul George no longer a lock to join the Lakers, the front office has to act now to land Kawhi for the foreseeable future. Leonard played in only nine games this season, scoring 16.2 points a night, well below his average of 25.5 in 2016-17.

"There's no way unless he's got dementia or something that he's got no recollection of what was going on at Ohio State", Mr. Coleman, the mixed martial arts champion, said of Mr. Jordan in an interview Friday.

Jordan was an assistant coach for the Ohio State wrestling team from 1986 to 1994. Jordan was among the people Yetts told about groping the first time in happened in 1992, Yetts told The Associated Press Tuesday.

"I love Jimmy to death", the ex-wrestler said.

"Coach Jordan knew what was going on, 100 percent", Mr. Yetts said. "I know they know what they're saying is not accurate". Messrs. Coleman and Jordan roomed together on several wrestling trips, Mr. Coleman said. Both messages - dated May 6 and June 15 and bearing the subject line "WINTER IS HERE" - appear to be directed to Ohio State football legend Archie Griffin and former NCAA official Oliver Luck, the father of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.

Both men, who wrestled for the school in the early "90s, have blamed Jordan for allegedly taking part in a cover-up scheme to hide Strauss" alleged sexual abuse.

"He was Larry Nassar before Larry Nassar", DiSabato said, referring to the disgraced former sports physician who was sentenced to up to 175 years in prison for sexually abusing girls and young women.

Jordan's colleagues, meanwhile, are defending his character.

And making the distinction between "locker room talk" and formal accusations. Quite obviously, these allegations could have an impact on his ability to mount a challenge to McCarthy as well as his career in Congress depending on which direction they head.
