‘Fortnite’ Reaches 125 Million Players, Announces World Cup For 2019

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and iOS.

There are more "Fortnite" players than PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch owners combined.

A spin-off from the original game, the newly developed Fortnite Battle Royale was released a year ago in September.

However, not much information has been made public by the developer in regards to esports competition, including events, private match capability, and more. Qualifying for the Fortnite World Cup will be based exclusively on player skill. Epic said it is not selling any franchise/team spots for its premiere event nor will it allow a third party to do so.
