Man United agree to sign Brazil midfielder Fred

United announced on their website Tuesday afternoon that an agreement has been reached with Shakhtar Donetsk to sign the Brazil worldwide this summer.

British media reported that United will pay Shakhtar about £52 million for the 25-year-old, who is in Brazil's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

Brazil legend Rivaldo has claimed that Manchester United are getting a "wonderful player" after the club agreed a deal to sign Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk. City were in the running to sign him but dropped their interest in January and have targeted Napoli's Brazilian-turned-Italian Jorginho instead.

The 25-year-old left Internacional in his homeland of Brazil for the Ukrainian club in 2013.

Once personal terms are finalised, he will compete for a place in United's midfield next season with Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay.

Fred's arrival has excited the Manchester United fans, with supporters pointing to his statistics in the Champions League as proof of his quality, while others said it is hard not to be excited about the player's arrival.
