The Model 3 now stops much more quickly, thanks to a software update from Tesla, Consumer Reports found.
An influential American consumer magazine has reversed an earlier unfavourable review on the Tesla Model 3 to recommend the electric auto. However, Consumer Reports found it took "significantly longer" not only than that quoted distance, but than any other contemporary vehicle.
In the organization's updated emergency braking tests, the auto stopped from 60 miles per hour in 133 feet, on par with the BMW 3-Series, and earned the Tesla a good score.
News of the Model 3 getting Consumer Reports' recommendation Wednesday recently sent Tesla shares up 3.3 percent to $293.15.
The improved braking raised the car's score high enough for it to receive the coveted recommendation.

Musk said that those upgrades are available for existing owners, but suggested instead that to improve ride comfort, owners drop tire pressures from 45 psi to 39 psi. But Consumer Reports said testers had other areas of concern.
"Looks like this can be fixed with a firmware update", Musk said.
The magazine also said almost all of the Model 3's controls are on a center touchscreen direction with no gauges on the dashboard and few buttons inside the auto.
The software update was done either via the car's cellular connection or a wireless internet link, depending on how the owner configures the vehicle, according to Tesla.
