Salah was hurt when he tangled with Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and was treated, but he collapsed to the ground again four minutes later and left the game after 30 minutes.

He scored 44 goals in all competitions this season with Liverpool, a feat that shot the winger from a remote Nile Delta village to global stardom and earned him the deep gratitude of a nation worn out by political turmoil, economic hardships and a long-running insurgency by Islamic militants.

The challenge during the first half of Saturday's Champions League final went unpunished by the match official but caused Salah to leave the game.

"UEFA and Federation Internationale de Football Association should take measures against Ramos and similar players, using the video recordings of matches to keep the spirit of the game".

The Egyptian national football team have since tweeted that Salah will undergo a scan on his shoulder.

He got up after receiving initial treatment from the physios and continued for another couple of minutes, but eventually the pain was unbearable and a tear filled Salah walked off the pitch.

According to Spanish radio network Cope, Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal faces a two-week recovery period from the injury he picked up during the Champions League final on Saturday.

"It's a serious injury, a really serious injury".

When asked if Salah's place in the World Cup is in question, Klopp told reporters: "Yeah it is".

Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp said "anything is possible" but that Salah is doubtful for the World Cup.

Sergio Ramos has wished Mohamed Salah well with his recovery as the Egypt global faces a race against time to be fit for the World Cup. "We did what we could, the boys tried everything", Klopp said, having lost a second Champions League final after a 2-1 defeat by Bayern Munich in the 2013 showpiece when he was in charge of Borussia Dortmund.
