The BJP on Saturday accepted the resignation of two of its ministers from the Jammu and Kashmir coalition government but said their unwise move to go and pacify people rallying for suspects of rape and murder of a minor was "mistaken for trying to shield the accused".
He said the two BJP leaders had visited the Hindu Ekta Manch rally to clam down the people and clear misgiving about the investigations.
The two ministers had participated in a rally on March 1 in support of the men who allegedly raped and murdered an eight-year-old Muslim nomad girl.
Asserting that the BJP will not come to power in Karnataka in the coming assembly elections, actor and activist Prakash Raj has said that south India will lead in removing the party from the power at the centre in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

He denied that the party acted on the two ministers after media pressure.

"Yesterday (Saturday), they went there in two cars and threatened them to keep quiet or leave the village".
Three FIRs have been filed by the UP Police in the case which were later transferred to the CBI.
