Fox News voices support for Laura Ingraham despite advertiser boycott

"We can not and will not allow voices to be censored by agenda-driven intimidation efforts", Jack Abernethy, co-president of Fox News, said in a statement to the Los Angeles Times.

After backlash Ingraham received from her insensitive comments, she made a decision to take a break from her Fox News post and said she's taking a vacation this week.

Hogg - who has amassed more than 650,000 Twitter followers himself - responded by tweeting a list of 12 companies that he said were sponsors of Ingraham's show, The Ingraham Angle.

The other companies announcing that they are canceling their ads are: Nutrish, the pet food line created by celebrity chef Rachael Ray, travel website TripAdvisor Inc, online home furnishings seller Wayfair Inc, the world's largest packaged food company, Nestle SA, online streaming service Hulu, travel website Expedia Group Inc and online personal shopping service Stitch Fix.

It would seem Fox News is refuting the notion that Laura Ingraham's vacation this week is a sign that her future with the network is up in the air.

Fox News Co-President Jack Abernethy insists Fox News Chanel's primetime host Laura Ingraham will return on Monday.

But Hogg, appearing on CNN this weekend, said he won't accept her apology because he believes she only did it to save herself from losing more money.

Ingraham has gone on a scheduled break after a week in which she came under fire for mocking David, 17, a senior at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, after he mentioned in an interview that he was not accepted by four University of California schools. "It's time to love thy neighbor, not mudsling at children". Ingraham later apologized, but Hogg said it was not enough, telling the TV host that she should denounce the way Fox News has treated him and his friends in their campaign for gun control.

"I think when people call us out like this, what they're really trying to do is distract from the bigger movement here", he added.

A Fox News spokesperson confirmed the vacation was preplanned.
