Alicia Vikander is the latest person tasked with playing Lara Croft in the new Tomb Raider film, due for release next week and based on the 2013 reboot of the game which saw a more realistic take on the character.

They may look new, they may bear different names, but from what we've been told about their characters, the film will draw inspiration from multiple figures in Lara's world. In the beginning it's very tough for her. "I hope that it's a young woman that a young audience can relate to".
"I've actually gone [wall] climbing quite a lot", she told Entertainment Tonight. She wants to create her own destiny. "By experience she pulls out those famous traits, as she's known for, and becomes the action hero that we so all know her to be". In an interview with Variety at the film's Los Angeles premiere, screenwriter Geneva Robertson-Dworet discussed how the team behind the film wanted to approach Lara Croft differently from the previous two Tomb Raider films. The film and its subsequent sequel made Jolie into a veritable action star.
