Richard Sherman to visit with the Lions

Cornerback Richard Sherman, after dining Friday night with 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan, will meet further with team officials Saturday as he looks for a new team, according to multiple reports.

Seattle Seahawks' Richard Sherman (25) eats turkey during a TV interview on the field after the San Francisco 49ers' lost 19-3 in their National Football League game against Seattle Seahawks at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2014.

Sherman is a three-time first team All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl member, but he's coming off a ruptured Achilles in 2017 and he turns 30 in late March. For one, he would get to play the Seahawks twice a year.

If he joined the 49ers, Sherman would also be reunited with his partner for one of the most famous plays in Seattle sports history - Malcolm Smith. And Schefter says it's possible that Sherman, who grew up in California, will stay in the area after his visit.

The woman discussed the matter with family and friends before reporting it to police more than a week after the alleged incident. She says that despite the fact no charges were filed, she stands behind her report "1,000 percent".

"I plan on playing five or six more years whether it's here or elsewhere", Sherman said.

Asked by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network on Friday what he wants out of a new team, Sherman said: "Looking for a great fit". He took to Twitter on Saturday to provide an update on his free agency. He is expected to have his first free agent meeting with the 49ers.

Richard Sherman joining the Detroit Lions' secondary absolutely makes sense as pairing him with All-Pro cornerback Darius Slay and veteran safety Glover Quin would instantly make the Motor City a No-Fly zone. The move was to save a lot of money and get the team under the salary cap. It's the flawless trifecta of reasons for the four-time Pro Bowler to end up in San Francisco.
