As authorities investigate the fatal shooting of a Clinton police officer and the wounding of two other officers, audio from police scanners reveals a heartbreaking scene. "It's hard to put into words what you go through when you have an officer killed in the line of duty, and then to have it happen to a department after a short period of time, that's hard to wrap your head around", Lowe said Tuesday. But the fact is they were in the act of committing crimes within that house.

Lowe said, the injured officers were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatments, and it was later learned that they had sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Ofc. Christopher Ryan Morton, 30, was an army veteran who served two tours and was a member of the Missouri Army National Guard. He had recently returned to full-time duty to replace a fallen officer.

Lowe spoke about the bravery of the Clinton Police Department and the community.

The Kansas City Royals tweeted shortly after learning of Morton's death.
