In the first Cobra Kai teaser trailer, Johnny (Zabka) reopens the Cobra Kai dojo in a last ditch effort to make something of himself.

While Daniel doesn't whip out the old the crane kick in the teaser, the 48-second clip should give fans of the film plenty to get excited about. In the first footage from the upcoming "Cobra Kai" series on YouTube, Red, Danny (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny (William Zabka) face off once again.

Cobra Kai debuts on YouTube Red sometime this year, but there's no release date yet.

Released in 1984, The Karate Kid told the story of high-school senior Daniel LaRusso, who moves with his mother from New Jersey to Los Angeles, where he nearly immediately comes into conflict with Johnny, the top student at the unscrupulous Cobra Kai dojo, and his gang.

In Cobra Kai, Johnny's life has taken a turn for the worse. Looking for a way to regain his objective and mojo, Johnny then decides to reopen the old dojo. According to Entertainment Weekly, this doesn't sit well with LaRusso, who has been living a wonderful life as a successful vehicle salesman and family man.

What's more it relied on the participants revealing the pace they ate, rather than actually scientifically measuring the speed. Although absolute reductions in waist circumference were small, they were greater among the slow and normal speed eaters.

Cobra Kai also stars Xolo Maridueña (Parenthood), Tanner Buchanan (Designated Survivor), Courtney Henggeler (Mom) and Mary Mouser (Freakish).

There are even the beginnings of an epic showdown as Johnny and Daniel step onto the mat (in street clothes). Ed Asner also stars, playing Johnny's stepfather.

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg wrote and executive produced the series, with Hurwitz and Schlossberg to direct most of the show. "This... we're not done", Daniel says at the climax of the trailer as the two square off in the iconic dojo.

The reboot of the "Karate Kid" franchise starred Jackie Chan, Jaden Smith and Taraji P. Henson.
