Trump suggested that Abedin has not been properly punished for her email use and has been protected by members of the "Deep State" in the Justice Department.

Trump, likely watching "Fox and Friends" at the time, then tweeted: "Thank you to Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council for your kind words on how well we are doing at the Border". The report noted that Abedin forwarded State Department passwords to her personal Yahoo email account. One email Abedin forwarded to her personal email account from her State Department account included passwords for a two-step laptop login process, though that email was not marked classified as Trump claimed. Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee a year ago, at which time he said Trump had asked for his loyalty during a January dinner at the White House.

Nearly 14 months after the 2016 presidential election, Trump has kept up a regular drumbeat of attacks on Clinton.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's top aide Huma Abedin and Former FBI Director James Comey must be investigated for their potential breaches of security, US President Donald Trump said in a statement on Tuesday.

The "deep state" refers to an alleged shadowy network of powerful entrenched interests that some Republicans argue are trying to undermine Trump.

"Huma Abedin, the top aide to Hillary Clinton and the wife of perv sleazebag Anthony Wiener, was a major security risk as a collector of info", Trump added in a separate tweet that same month.

According to the report, Abedin forwarded sensitive State Department emails and passwords to government systems to her private Yahoo email account.
