Congress MLA Asha Kumari, booked for slapping woman cop, files counter complaint

Shimla: On Friday, in a shocking incident, a newly elected Congress MLA, from Dalhousie Asha Kumari in Himachal Pradesh, got into an altercation with a female police constable. Asha Kumari is All India Congress Committee secretary and in-charge of Punjab. Asha Kumari, the MLA, is a senior Congress leader.

"She (woman constable) abused me and pushed me, she should have shown restrain, I am her mother's age, but yes I agree I should not have lost my temper".

Party leaders and workers started jostling to enter the office soon after Gandhi went inside the building amid a tight security at the Congress office.

Complainant further alleged that she was restrained from moving ahead and pushed back and manhandled.

"Raising hand on anyone is against Congress culture".

Asha Kumari, an MLA from Dalhousie, was reportedly denied entry to the venue where Congress president Rahul Gandhi was holding a review meeting.

However, it was not like any other usual incident of politicians assaulting police personnel and this time Asha Kumari messed up with a wrong lady who slapped her right back on the face.

The MLA, however, said that the woman constable prevented her from discharging her public duty. "I apologize", the Congress MLA said.

According to information, Rahul conducted meeting with District and block President in Shimla.

Rahul is in Shimla on Friday to review the party's performance in the recently held assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. The party lost to the BJP after being reduced to just 21 seats in the 68-member Assembly.
