Before his return in a Cavalier uniform, however, it appears Thomas will log 5-on-5 practice time with the Canton Charge, Cleveland's G League affiliate team.
The Cavaliers will either have Thomas travel to Canton, Ohio to play with their G-League affiliate, the Canton Charge, or the players will go to Cleveland's practice facility to have five-on-five scrimmages with Thomas.
Apparently, Thomas still hasn't practiced with the team in a full-court setting since they rarely hold practices. The Cavs play the Golden State Warriors on Christmas Day, the Sacramento Kings on December 27, and the Utah Jazz on December 30.
Fans will not see Thomas play against the Warriors, but interestingly, the Cavaliers are scheduled to take on the Boston Celtics on January 3.
Instant Observations from Eagles' 34-29 win over Giants
We were playing horse [bleep] at that point in time, to be honest, on defense, especially in the secondary", Jenkins said. It didn't take long for the Giants' offense to demonstrate what type of game the unit would have against the Eagles.
Thomas' return is projected to be sometime within the next three weeks, with the January 3 return to the Garden circled.
The Cavs' official timeline for Thomas' recovery provided to the media in late September called for Thomas to be back playing games by the first of the year. McMenamin noted that a source said that Thomas won't play at all in any games before Christmas.
Thomas aggravated an existing hip injury in last season's playoffs and has been recovering throughout the offseason. "I hope it's accurate".
Per ESPN's Dave Mcmenamin: "A source close to Thomas told ESPN that his camp has ruled out a return before Christmas, taking Tuesday's road game against the Milwaukee Bucks and Thursday's home game against the Chicago Bulls off the table for his Cavs debut".
