NBC affilate WOWT reports that members of the Lincoln Police Department and the F.B.I. said they believe they have found the body of missing Nebraska woman Sydney Loofe at a press conference Tuesday morning.
Sydney Loofe sent friends a selfie on Snapchat on November 15 with the caption, "Ready for my date".
Loofe's date, 23-year-old Bailey Boswell, admits she was with Loofe in the hours before she went missing.
"This is very large area we want to just make sure they are doing everything that they can to look through any possible evidence that might be in the area and that's what they're looking at now", said Federal Bureau of Investigation public information officer Houston Pullen.
Loofe's death comes after multiple agencies, including the F.B.I., assisted in the search.
"It's with heavy hearts that we share this most recent update with you all", the couple said. "Please continue to pray for Sydney and our entire family", the family wrote. May God grant eternal rest unto thee. "We adore you Sydney".
Boswell and Trail live in Wilber, which is where Loofe was last seen and where investigators traced her cellphone's final communication with a nearby tower, according to the Omaha World-Herald.
Strong cold front sends temperatures plunging — FIRST ALERT FORECAST
Meanwhile, the National Weather Service early Saturday morning issued a winter weather advisory for the northern Oregon Cascades. Friday will be mostly cloudy, with a high in the upper 30s and a Friday-night low in the mid 20s, the weather service said.
Loofe was reported missing November 16.
"We're continuing to speak with Aubrey Trail, and we'll continue to do so as long as he's willing to do that", said Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister, who declined to say whether Boswell was also cooperating with investigators. Boswell said the two met on Tinder and went on two dates together. They both had outstanding warrants on charges unrelated to Loofe's case. "I went to take her home, and she asked me to drop her off at her friend's house, so I did so", Boswell said. This media house does not correct any spelling or grammatical error within press releases and commentaries. Boswell and Trail say they're innocent and are being unfairly targeted by authorities. Sydney's cell phone last pinged there.
As of late Sunday night, two persons of interest were still in custody.
"I hope that Sydney is found very soon, she is a sweet, awesome girl", she said.
Loofe's friend Terra Gehrig said the 24-year-old was going on a second date with a woman she met on Tinder before she disappeared. They also accused the police of blowing off their calls. "We'll still work toward that end, but again, the analysis of the (digital records) was what led us to the discovery of who we believe to be Sydney".
Bliemiester on Tuesday said investigators have explored the claims in the videos extensively.
Bliemeister said the area has been closed off now by law enforcement so officers can thoroughly investigate the site.
