In a joint statement, Microsoft said it would run its crucial internal financial planning operations with the use of SAP's S/4 HANA database, while SAP mentioned that over 12 of its financial operations would be done using Microsoft's Azure cloud service.

Recently announced, Microsoft and leading application management software company SAP have partnered to give enterprise customers a cloud solution that is both expansive in flexibility as well as robust in product support.

Thes announcement expands on a previous agreement between Microsoft and SAP about 18 months ago that allowed Microsoft to integrate its Office 365 suite into SAP.

Microsoft and SAP plan to document these internal projects and make them available to customers who want to deploy SAP on Azure for guidance purposes.

And this year SAP said that its customers could run its software on AWS, as well as Azure and Google's Cloud Platform in preview.

"Microsoft benefits because it adds more legitimacy to its cloud operations". SAP is migrating more than a dozen business-critical systems to Azure for the optimal efficiencies, flexibility and innovation the platform offers.

The move follows a similar cross-cloud integration partnership made between Microsoft and Adobe previous year. "The Microsoft and SAP alliance provides us with the assurance we need for our innovation in the cloud".
