A 23-year-old Territorial Army jawan was abducted and killed by militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir while he was on leave, officials said today. "His bullet-riddled body was recovered on Saturday morning", SSP Shopian, Ambarkar Shriram, said, adding that the soldier was posted with the Engineering Regiment of the Army at Gurez near the LoC.
Locals who found the body had informed the police.
Kalia said Dar was on leave till November 26. His body was traced in teh Wuthmulla village which is located in Shopian, near Keegam. The body of the soldier was returned to his family after postmortem.
It is the third killing of off-duty security personnel in Valley this year.
A BSF soldier, Mohammad Ramzan Parray, was shot dead by terrorists when he resisted an attempt to kidnap him.

"The murder of young Irfan Dar is a very tragic & reprehensible act". She tweeted, "Strongly condemn the brutal killing of Irfan Ahmed, a fearless Territorial Army soldier at Shopian". A police officer, while speaking to the TV channel, said that the possibility of the involvement of terrorists in the kidnap and murder can not be ruled out.
"We got to know about the incident at 10am". Irfan's vehicle was found near the murder spot.
The killing of the bright son of a Kashmiri farmer was widely condemned.
