"It's good to get the guys out in the community", said Comets player Reid Boucher. "Not just being grateful but giving back to everyone". "We only have so much space in our kitchen and so much space to serve on Thanksgiving Day".

Fortunately, there's never a shortage of volunteers to help out putting the meals together and delivering them to those in need.

- The Union Gospel Mission is responsible for providing about 60,000 holiday meals for those in need over Thanksgiving. The Comets also coordinated the donation of 300 foil baking pans, donated by Family Dollar locations in Barneveld, Utica, and Whitesboro. Between Tuesday and Wednesday, organizers expected to have served around 1,100 meals in Tyler and Longview.

Earlier this week, volunteers packed thousands of bags with groceries for Thanksgiving dinners-the nonprofit's 60th year of doing so.
