Besides a brief absence in 1988, Young was an integral part of AC/DC from its start in November 1973 right through to April 2014, when it was announced that he would receive treatment for dementia. With enormous dedication and commitment he was the driving force behind the band.
David Cassidy in critical condition The American singer and actor David Cassidy was in a critical condition in a Florida hospital last night with organ failure. He was 64 years old. In 2008 he admitted to problems with alcohol. Young had been battling dementia for three years and was replaced by his nephew, Stevie Young, in the 2015 AC/DC world tour.
"He was older than me - I always looked up to him", Angus Young said of his brother in an interview previous year with Rolling Stone Magazine, saying he was "always one to battle through".

Young's family said he passed away peacefully Saturday with his family at his bedside.

UN Security Council rejects Russian draft on Syria chemical probe

Angus Young added, "As his brother it is hard to express in words what he has meant to me during my life, the bond we had was unique and very special. Malcolm, job well done".
The rock community mourned Young's passing, with Slash from Guns N' Roses saying the AC/DC star was one of the best rhythm guitarists. "It was great to get the opportunity to open for AC/DC on the Highway To Hell tour & we certainly learned a thing or two", Elliott wrote in a statement published to Def Leppard's social media accounts. I found Malcolm to be a really cool, down to earth fellow.
Young's death comes only a matter of weeks after the passing of George Young, the older brother of Malcolm and Angus, who was AC/DC's longtime producer and before that a member of 1960s hitmakers the Easybeats.
AC/DC plans to create a memorial website at which fans can send messages to Malcolm Young's survivors, including his wife, O'Linda; children, Cara and Ross; son-in-law, Josh; three grandchildren; and his sister and brother.
